Elder Passey in Monterrey East: March 2016

This is crazy. The time goes by so fast and It is just insane. Every day is so full of lessons and learning Spanish and learning the gospel each day just starts and ends within minutes i feel like. IMPORTANT NOTICE If you want to send me a letter and have it get to me before the next week to tell me something important preferably a mission call hahaha which really only applies to one of you but you can send it at letter@mexicomtccarepackage.com and they print it out and put it in our mail box the next day. This week started somewhat okay. Its gotten a lot better. The week that is not the spanish ahha. Yesterday we taught our first TRC lesson which is when you teach a volunteer from Mexico City that comes in and hears our message. Mostly just members that volunteer but it can be less actives or investigators so they tell us. It went pretty well. I understood most of what was said which is good and my companion thought it was the best lesson of his existence which cheered me up ahah.

I've come to love reading the Book of Mormon so much. We don't have a lot of free time here but when we do have personal study time i spend most of it reading the book of mormon because i love it so much. Definitely a strength to me and helps me day by day. I've become less stressed and learned to enjoy the CCM more the stress about it. Still working hard to learn the language and the gospel so its coming along really well! Each day gets easier and more enjoyable so i will definitely be sad when i have to leave the CCM especially leaving my district because they have become my family. All is well in Mexico and i assume all is well in Utah. Thats about it for this week so good luck everyone with life and i love you all!

March 2, 2016-Safe arrival email

WOW! this is already so crazy. when we all got here i had something wrong with my passport and had to go to the other side of the airport to fix it so two guys from the MTC drove me and people are insane! I thought utah drivers were bad. You have no idea thought i was going to die about six times. my MTC companion is awesome and already speaks spanish! the houses up the mountain remind me of Rio like in fast and furious and the MTC here is beautiful! Im loving it so far so no worries! ill email next week or whenever i can! bye!

The emotional rollercoaster I'm on is nothing short of insanity. I have had so many ups and downs already and its really cool and sad all at the same time. It all started off pretty cool and fun. That was the day i got here. Then came the next day. Sitting in the spanish class reminded me so much of high school spanish when i understood nothing at all. It was only the first day so i wasn't too worried. Then as the week went on i felt kinda crappy because i felt like i wasnt picking up spanish as well as everyone else in my district. They tell us not to compare ourselves with other sisters and elders but its hard not too!

My companion is Elder Cardenas (card den os) he is so cool and we have pretty much everything in common. He is from Louisiana and speaks pretty much fluent english. His parents are cuban so thats where he gets his skill. He tries to talk to me mostly in spanish but its difficult for the both of us because i can only sometimes understand what he is saying but he is trying to speak just spanish so i get better.

The food here in Mexico is GREAT! at least at the mtc. If you don't like the food then you can just have a sandwich or cereal which i have rarely had a sandwich or cereal. Well okay i have cereal almost every morning because cereal is life but thats beside the point. My favorite thing ever is this drink in the soda machines called taranja, it basically tastes like the upgraded version of squirt.

We went to the temple today and that was the best thing I've done here by far. The Mexico city temple is nothing short of amazing. Ill attach photos and what not of my district and the temple and stuff. Im here for five more weeks which i know will fly by. Its already going by so fast and i really hope im picking spanish up okay by the end of six weeks. a lot of prayer and studying thats what i do every day all day. My spanish teacher is really nice and is a great teacher. she is really awesome. I LOVE MY DISTRICT!!! They are all so amazing! there is only 6 of us and we are all so close already and it will be so sad when we all leave the CCM (MTC) I Love you all and hope everyone has a great rest of the week! miss you all tons!
